Brief Description :
Gathering of prime movers, leaders and stakeholders in the coconut industry to engage in discussions, among others, on the present situation of the Philippine coco coir and peat industry and the industry development plan for coco coir utilizing the value chain approach. Highlight of the one-day activity is the signing of the joint Statement of Commitment among industry players and partner agencies. The one-day gathering also aims to: formulate doable policies or programs and generate commitments that will support the coco coir and peat sector, agree on mechanisms for collaboration linking farm producers with exporters to ensure sustainability of operation as well as equitable distribution of benefits, learn and possibly adapt technologies that will fully maximize the use of coco peat and improve its processing, and forge domestic and export marketing agreements for coco coir and peat.
